From Friday night to Sunday afternoon at ATHICA, you can enjoy an art show featuring 11 different artists, and you can even buy work and take it home.

The Athens Pop Up Gallery features sculpture, paintings, drawings, quilts, glass, ceramics and jewelry, among other items. At the Friday night preview party, from 5pm to 8pm, there will also be live music and refreshments.

Among the participants are Elizabeth Barton, Beverly Buchanan, Annette Hatton,
Gaybriel Jones, Jasey Jones, Rich Panico, Annette Paskiewicz, Mary Porter, Suzanne Reeves, Daniel Sizemore and Emily Tatum.

The idea for a "pop up" show came to Annette Paskiewicz, modeled after similar shows in Chicago. She and Mary Porter held a successful pop up at Annette's house last spring, "but we decided to make this one bigger and include more artists."

Mary Porter and Elizabeth Barton contacted local artists and encouraged them to participate. Longtime Athenian and current Michigan transplant Beverly Buchanan is among those exhibiting.

"We want people to come who are interested in the quality of what's being shown," said Paskiewicz. "There are a lot of people in Athens who want to see quality art. We're excited about this show."

There will also be an Indie pop-up shop, some blue grass music and tasty treats, donated by the artists themselves, she said.
