AthFest kicks off Wednesday with FilmFest, LaughFest
FilmFest, a series of music films and local productions, will be held at Athens Cine June 22-26. LAUGHFest is also Wednesday night at the 40 Watt Club.

Starting at 8 p.m., at the will feature comedians Dan Telfer, TJ Young, Chris Patton, Natalie Glaser, Matt Gilbert, Luke Fields and Drew Dickerson. Tickets are $10 at the door and only $5 with an AthFest wristband.

Wednesday, June 22:
Beginning at 7:30 p.m., The Drive-By Truckers’ “Go-Go Boots Episodes,” written by founder Patterson Hood, will be shown. A second showing is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Sunday. General admission tickets cost $5, but the show is free with an AthFest wristband.

A documentary by Barr Weissman about The Drive-By Truckers, “The Secret to a Happy Ending,” will be shown at 9 p.m. A second showing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday. General admission tickets cost $9, but only $5 with an AthFest wristband.
Thursday, June 23:
At 7:30 p.m., director Devin DiMattia’s “Firewall of Sound” will be shown, offering an “in-depth look at the independent music industry in a state of transition.” A second showing is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Saturday. General admission is $5, but the show is free with an AthFest wristband.
Beginning at 9 p.m., the Athens Picture Show: Shorts Program will showcase 12 short movies made by Athens area filmmakers. A second showing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday. General admission is $5, but the show is free with an AthFest wristband.
Friday, June 24:
At 9:30 p.m., a new, locally produced documentary centered around the history of the Georgia Theater called will be shown. A second showing is scheduled for the same time Saturday. General admission is $9, but only $5 with an AthFest wristband.
At midnight Friday and Saturday, the “Sprockets Music + Video Show” will be shown, presenting this year’s compilation of music videos in competition for awards for Best Music Video and Audience Choice. General admission is $5, but the show is free with an AthFest wristband.
Saturday, June 25:
At 2 p.m., “Girls Rock!” directed by Arne Johnson and Shane King will be shown followed by an audience discussion and mini instrument instructions. General admission is $5 and all proceeds go to benefit the Athens Girls Rock Camp.
Athens Teenscreen begins at 7:30 p.m. and will feature a diverse lineup of short movies made by the next generation of Athens filmmakers. A second showing is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday. General admission is $5, but the event is free with an AthFest wristband.
At 8:30 p.m., The Found Footage Festival begins. General admission is $10 and $8 with an AthFest wristband.
