The Athens Folk Music and Dance Society and Athfest Present: The Athfest Sampler and CD Release Party

The Athens Folk Music and Dance Society and Athfest Present: The Athfest Sampler and CD Release Party. Admission is free to this event. The monthly music variety show, The Hoot, will be highlighting the upcoming downtown Athens festival, Athfes, which will take place June 22 to 26. Every year Athfest puts out a compilation CD featuring music from Athens bands. Celebrate it's release and hear from bands who have songs on the 2011 CD. Also, we will be passing out yard signs, giving out festival information and signing up festival volunteers. We'll hear music from the punk/folk band, The Knockouts, complete with horns and banjo, Also we'll hear more banjo along with fiddle, mandolin and harmony from, The Welfare Liners. And we'll hear the duo Powerkompany, which does indeed feature a power of talent from Packway Handle's Andrew Heaton. Susan Staley opens and hosts the evening.
