By Rhiannon Eades

The Friends of Athens-Clarke County Library are proud to present an evening with best-selling author Karin Slaughter at the Athens-Clarke County Library on Thursday, July 18. The event will take place in the Library’s Appleton Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.

Slaughter, an Atlanta-based crime writer, has captivated millions with her novels, including Criminal, Fallen, Broken, Undone, Beyond Reach, Triptych, Faithless, Indelible, A Faint Cold Fear, Kisscut and Blindsighted. Her books have been translated into more than 30 languages and have sold 30 million copies worldwide, and they are consistently named to best-seller lists both in The New York Times and around the world.

In Unseen, her latest thriller due out July 2, one of her fans’ favorite characters, GBI Agent Will Trent, returns. In this new novel, Trent goes undercover with a drug and prostitution ring in Macon. Taking matters into his own hands, he decides not to burden girlfriend Sara Linton with any knowledge of his assignment – for it’s one in which the stakes will be higher than any Will has tackled yet!

Slaughter is known for her signature blend of forceful plotting, breathtaking twists and vivid characterizations. She has been nominated for the Georgia Writer of the Year Award, Barry Award and Macavity Award. Two of her novels were Book Sense Picks, and Beyond Reach won Holland’s 2007 Silver Fingerprint for Best Foreign Thriller. Undone was an Indiebound Next Pick for August 2009. She has been lauded for her work on the Save the Libraries campaign and received the Silver Bullet Award from International Thriller Writers for her efforts. Most recently, news has come out that three television movies based on her Will Trent series are in the works by Yellow Bird, the same company behind the hit Swedish films based on Stieg Larssen’s Millenium Trilogy.
