Helping Hands Will Help the Hungry

Saturday event at Good Dirt benefits the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.

 

has teamed up with local chefs to create a wonderful Saturday afternoon event that will delight children and adults alike. And will benefit the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.

At "Handmade for the Hungry," you'll be able to sample soups, vote for your favorite soups, let your kids play in the clay, buy a handmade bowl, bid on pieces in a silent auction and get tickets for the March 14th Empty Bowls Luncheon. The Saturday eat-and-greet starts at noon and runs until 3:30, with free admission and soup votes for $1.

The annual "Handmade for the Hungry" takes place in the , and also includes a silent auction. You can purchase $20 tickets online or by calling (706) 354-8191. 

Joining the potters this year on Saturday are members of the Classic City Woodturners, who will be demonstrating their craft. Some of their pieces will be featured in the silent auction as well.

Founded in 1992, the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia annually distributes more than 7.2 million meals to more than 125,000 individuals needing emergency food assistance.

THe food is distributed primarily through 200 partner agencies in 14 counties in northeast Georgia. The Food Bank also leads six direct distribution programs: The Mobile Pantry Program, The Lena Watkins Emergency Feeding Program, The Kids Cafe, The Food 2 Kids Program and Feeding a Family Program, and The Charlie & Jessica Ostick Stock the Pantry Program.
