Caring is Cool!

The Athens Area Humane Society is proud to announce that it is partnering with the American Red Cross’ Athens Donor Center from July 1 through September 30, 2012 to help save lives! During our Caring is Cool campaign, we are encouraging supporters of both organizations to help with our missions in one of several ways.

What YOU Can Do to Help:

1. The Athens Donor Center will be tracking AAHS staff and supporters’ blood donations, so we encourage you to donate your blood to help save a human life. Blood donations have been at their lowest recently—10 percent lower than normal. And when you hear the 40 percent of the US blood donations come from the Red Cross, that’s a huge need. And did you know that one pint of blood can save the lives of up to three people!
2. Drop off AAHS Wish List ad Food Bowl donations at the Athens Donor Center. AAHS is in the most need of kitten patte for our Shelter, as well as other items listed on our online Wish List. You can drop off your AAHS donations and give blood at the same time! (Food Bowl donations should be unopened bags of Pedigree or Puina brand dog or cat food.)
3. Bring a photo of you and your pet to the Athens Donor Center to have it featured on their “Blood Donors and their Pets” community hero special bulletin board through September.
4. Share this Caring is Cool campaign information with your family, friends and coworkers! Take photos of your participation and share it with us on Facebook.

The Athens Donor Center will be raffling of Red Cross and AAHS items, so don’t forget to enter the raffle when you give blood! They will also be giving away Red Cross t-shirts and a chance to win a $1,000 gift card from July 2 to July 8.
