ATHENS-CLARKE COUNTY TRIAD SET TO START

The Athens-Clarke County Triad is an effort to work within the community to reduce senior victimization and create increased awareness among seniors about the prevalence of crime.

A statewide initiative, started locally through the Athens Community Council on Aging (ACCA) and the National Triad Association, the Athens-Clarke County Triad is an effort to work within the community to reduce senior victimization and create increased awareness among seniors about the prevalence of crime, how to prevent crime and increase public safety in our community and throughout Georgia.

The Athens-Clarke County Triad brings together an “Action Group” of public safety officials, criminal justice officials, older adult advocates, and senior community organizations.  This “Action Group” is called a SALT Council (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together).  The vision is that the Triad and SALT Council will work together for a safer Georgia for all of our area seniors.  The goal is to reduce crime and improve communication between seniors and law enforcement. It will also serve as aforum for people to express their concerns related to crime and to discuss ways to prevent it.
