Athens Council Cooks up Luncheons for Literacy

The Athens Clarke Literacy Council, along with the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Bookclub, are hosting a series of author's luncheons to raise money for the council. it works to promote adult literacy in Athens.They held the first luncheon on Wednesday, with cookbook author Rebecca Lang the speaker.

"Make it Fast, Make it Southern," is Lang's latest book. The Athens, Ga., cookbook author is a former assistant to Nathalie Dupree, the author of two other cookbooks and a food historian, as well as a wife and mother of two small children.

At Wednesday's lunch, she read from her newest cookbook, told some stories about her family and talked about her love for cooking and for books. And then she signed books for those who wanted them.
