Readers' Choice: Vote for Your Favorite Kid-Friendly Hair Salon

Vote for your fav, then tell us why you did so.

The suggestions are in. From Facebook, emails and comments, Athens Patch has come up with a list of places that do a good job of cutting children's hair.

Only thing is, we had so many people who were so enthusiastic about their particular salons, we couldn't narrow the list down to just five. As you will see.

Some places give kids a lollipop when the haircut is over. Others play kid friendly music and just make the small clients feel special and grown up. Some hair dressers have been cutting hair and dealing with chidren so long that they are unflappable.

From the many suggestions and testimonials we received, we have compiled a list of various hair salons that do a good job of cutting children's hair. Now it's up to you to vote, just once, for your favorite place. Whoever gets the most votes wins the Readers' Choice award from Athens Patch.

If you're feeling energetic, you can find your favorite kid salon in the Patch  business directory and write a review of the place. The owners will like that.

If you are a business owner reading this, please make sure you have in the Athens Patch directory. And, heaven forbid, if your business isn't in the directory, send me an email and we will get you listed!

So, which of the places listed works best for you? If you care to tell us why, please do so in the comments section at the end of the story. We will announce the winner on Friday.

Okay, so now, where do y'all go and why?

We have tried Emporium downtown. The hair looked great, but the girls were too wiggly for a busy salon. Darla Freeman is great, but she's usually booked months ahead. A Flair With Hair works well for us--not expensive, very laid back, with children's books on hand and a relaxed staff who know how to cut a little girl's hair. very quickly.

We used to love Kidz Doos in Homewood Hills. It was perfect: video games, a huge playhouse, cartoons. Unfortunately, they closed only after a few months of being open. Now we take our boys to Big League Barbers on Baxter. The stylists are real nice with kids, all cutting stations have TVs and they have some kids toys and books in the waiting area. Plus Dum-Dums after a successful cut!

We like Fantastic Sam's on the Eastside. All of the stylists are super nice and rarely act annoyed when my kiddos squirm.
