UGA PRSSA Seniors Tour Atlanta Agencies

ATHENS, Ga. – Monday, February 10, 2014 – Last week, 16 seniors from the University of Georgia and PRSSA members traveled to Atlanta to tour six communications agencies. This tour was the second year that the Grady School of Journalism took students to Atlanta on tours, with a long-standing history of a Washington D.C. Agency Tour.  Both tours are proving to be more successful than the former.

Day one of this trip entailed visits to Jackson Spalding, MSLGroup and Coca-Cola.  Day two visits included stops at Delta Air Lines, Porter Novelli and Ketchum. All agencies generously offered students a look into their offices, unique insight into the communications industry and advice on the internship and job search. The trip also juxtaposed both corporate and agency settings for students to get a feel for where they could see themselves after graduation in May 2014.

While the tour was originally planned as a consecutive two day trip, inclement weather pushed the Thursday, Jan. 30 tour to the following Thursday, Feb. 6.  The agencies affected were extremely accommodating and welcomed the switch. Friday, Jan. 31 was able to go on as scheduled. Each day began at an early 9:00 a.m. and ended at 4:30 p.m.
