Athens-Clarke County Unified Government Hiring for for Several Positions

Traffic signal tech I with the public works department — Employee ensures safe operation of traffic signal equipment in emergency or non-emergency situations. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, constructing, installing, maintaining, upgrading, and repairing electronic traffic signals and signal systems; preparing related reports; and performing additional tasks, as assigned. Applicants must have a vocation or technical diploma and electronic maintenance or related experience, as well as International Municipal Signal Association Level I Certification or the ability to acquire the certification within 12 months. 

Systems analyst, entry level, I or II, CIS department — Employee performs systems and applications analysis, development, implementation, support and maintenance activities. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analyzing automation needs county wide; designing, modifying, and converting systems; configuring, assessing, and managing hardware and software usage; and training operators and users. Candidate will be classified as either Entry Level, Systems Analyst I or Systems Analyst II depending on experience. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, information systems geographic information systems, mathematics, business administration or a related field.

Transit vehicle operator — Employee operates a mainline bus or specialized van. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, picking up and dropping off passengers, collecting fares, operating a vehicle along prescribed routes, transporting paratransit/demand response passengers, providing good customer service and performing additional tasks as assigned. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, a CDL permit and the ability to obtain a full valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement within six weeks of date of hire. One year of experience in the operation of a mainline bus and/or specialized van is preferred, as well as experience working with the elderly or disabled.
