Christmas Movie to Be Filmed in Norcross - Norcross Patch

Norcross may have just had a dose of Hollywood last month with the  but the city is getting its second helping next week.

A production company is coming to Historic Downtown Norcross to film the opening scene of a Christmas movie, which is expected to release this holiday season, according to the city of Norcross website.

Woman From Cumming Wins $250K in Lottery - Cumming Patch

A retired woman from Cumming hit the jackpot after playing Mega Millions and won a quarter of a million dollars.

Geraldine Thornton, 66, matched the first five winning numbers from the April 2 drawing to win her monumental $250,000 prize.

Guns on Campus? UGA President and President-to-Be Say No - Athens Patch

Should people allowed to carry firearms on the University of Georgia campus?

No, say both outgoing UGA president Michael Adams and incoming UGA president Jere Morehead. UGA System Chancellor Hank Huckaby, the university presidents and the two UGA administrators all agree that guns have no place on campus.

State Senator Frank Ginn (R-Danielsville) asked the Athens Clarke County Commission last week how they felt about the bill. He was one of the bill's sponsors, and he said that it's not going away.

SWAT Teams Clear Suspicious Package on I-85 - Buckhead Patch

I-85 southbound in Atlanta was shut down for more than two hours on Saturday morning as police investigated a suspicious package near the Lenox Road/Cheshire Bridge road exit.

Officers responded to a suspicious package call around 8:45 a.m., according to Atlanta police spokesman John Chaffee.

"Officers located a black bag beside the highway and notified the APD SWAT team," Chaffee said.

Pokémon Champ Does It Again - Douglasville Patch

After a weekend of head-to-head Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) battles, Keegan Abley earned the esteemed title of Pokémon Spring Regional Champion at the 2013 Pokémon Spring Regional Championships.

Held in Athens, on April 13 and 14, Keegan is among only five Junior Division Spring Regional TCG Champions from throughout North America to earn a travel award to compete at the 2013 Pokémon U.S. National Championships this summer.
