Downtown Christmas Parade Set for December 6 in Athens, Ga.

The annual Downtown Parade of Lights will start at 7pm.

Better stake out your place early in the evening of December 6. The holiday parade of lights through downtown Athens starts at 7pm, and if this year is anything like last year's parade, people will be knee to jowl.

More than 70 entries will compete for prizes for having the “Most Original Float,” “Best Use of Theme,” and “Best Use of Lights.” The theme this year is "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Performing units will be judged during the parade itself, and the best overall float will receive the “Mayor’s Award.”
