Northeast Georgia Counties Ranked in Health Study

Oconee is ranked second healthiest in Georgia; Clarke and Barrow are both in the top third.

Oconee is the second healthiest county in Georgia, and both Clarke and Barrow fare reasonably well in a ranking of nearly all the nation's counties released Wednesday.

Oconee ranks second in the state for "health outcomes" such as low rates of premature death, poor health days and low birthweight, according to the rankings published by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Clarke's overall ranking is 15th out of Georgia's 159 counties, and Barrow's is 43. According to the rankings, Fayette is the state's healthiest county. More details in the table below:
