Rachel Watkins Announces her Candidacy for the Third District Commission Seat

Wednesday night, Rachel Watkins officially announced her campaign to represent District 3 on the Athens-Clarke County Commission to a packed house of supporters at the new Hi-Lo on Prince Avenue. Bins for Our Daily Bread and the Athens Area Emergency Food Bank overflowed with donations and music by Patterson Hood and friends entertained the crowd.
 
Watkins has served on many committees and boards in Athens and works on communications and public relations for Avid Bookstore and the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau. She received an M.Ed. in Adult Education from The University of Georgia, and a B.A.E. in Elementary Education from the University of Mississippi. She and her husband, Lawrence Slutzky, live in the Boulevard neighborhood with their children.
