Athens Choral Society presents "Postcards from the Road"

Mailing postcards to family and friends while on vacation is as American as apple pie, enabling us to share pleasant memories of our travels. With smart phones and tablets, postcards have almost become a fond memory themselves. From August 23-25 the Athens Choral Society will enable you to take a sentimental journey in song with true stories that will keep you laughing.
There will be four performances at Seney-Stovall Chapel on North Milledge Avenue next to the Varsity -- four shows, Friday Aug. 23rd @7:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24th, @2:30& 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 25th @ 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for each performance with these funds financing the summer show as well as two free concerts at the University of Georgia's Hodgson Hall in the late fall and spring.
During  each summer show performance audience members are given an opportunity to donate to an Athens charity. This summer's charity is the Athens Area Homeless Shelter on Barber Street.
"Postcards from the Road" will feature soloists, trios, and ensembles singing favorites from the 40's-70's. Choral numbers will include "Midnight Train to Georgia", made popular by Gladys Knight and the Pips in the 1970s, and "I've Been Everywhere", recorded by Johnny Cash. Stephen Mitchell will direct with Sara Lorusso as pianist.
To order tickets, call 706-546-7446, emailathenschoral@gmail.com or online athenschoralsociety.com.
