Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School Hosts First Prospective Student Open House of 2014

Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School
(AJMLS) – Georgia’s only fully ABA-accredited, independent law school – will host their first prospective student open house event of the 2014 year
featuring a mock class presentation taught by noted professor and Associate
Dean for Scholarships Jeffrey Van Detta.

Students interested in
attending Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School are invited to learn more about
the school, meet professors, students and key staff at the open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on January 25, 2014.  The event will be at the law school’s
Blackburn Conference Center located at 1405 Spring Street, Atlanta, GA 30309.

The highlight of the
open house will be a mock class covering the legal enforceability of surrogate
parenting contracts, taught by Associate Dean Van Detta, who will introduce prospective law students to what a real law school class is like and offer tips
to optimize their success in law school. He has considerable law-practice experience as a partner with an international law firm’s Atlanta office, where he concentrated on traditional labor law, employment discrimination law,
international workplace regulation, and federal court litigation with an
emphasis on advising and representing corporations such as PepsiCo, Frito-Lay,
The Home Depot, Lockheed Martin Corporation, ConAgra, Delta Air Lines,
Frito-Lay Snacks Caribbean (Puerto Rico), Sema Group Telecoms (U.K), and TV Asahi (Asahi National Broadcasting Company of Japan, Ltd.).  Associate
Dean Van Detta also served as lead or co- counsel in numerous cases. His
numerous writings on the law have been cited by the U.S. Supreme Court, several federal appeals and district courts, a state supreme court, and state appeals courts in Iowa and Georgia. His most recent article will appear in
February 2014 in a peer-reviewed European journal.

Our professors combine their real-world and classroom experience to provide students with the most
