Art Exhibit - Women on Paper: Lauren Kerbelis, Gail Smith, Caroline Swanson, Nancy Schultz, Karen Banker, Lillie Morris and Ingrid Hofer

Women on Paper is a small group of professional artists from Augusta, Georgia. They have been gathering weekly since 1989 to paint en plein air using a variety of media on paper. The purpose of the group is to celebrate the individual creative spirit while providing each other with encouragement and support.

“We are a group of professional women artists who nurture the creative urge in ourselves and each other. Our paintings are of people and places, of gardens and interiors, of landscapes and flowers, still lifes and imaginings, light and shadow. We all work on paper with watercolor, gouache, pastel, collage or mixed media. Each has her own visions and dreams, her own rhythm, her own song. Each contributes her own unique way of looking at the world while the support of the group encourages this special voice. We are together as a group in purpose, but individual Women on Paper.” The group has exhibited throughout Georgia and South Carolina including the Georgia Governor’s office, Medical College of Georgia, Emory University Law School and Barnes and Noble Bookstore. The show opens in the Visitor Center Gallery on Sunday, January 13 and runs through March 3.
