Taize Candlelight Prayer Service

This is an inter-faith event and people of all faiths are welcome to attend. Musicians and singers from Holy Cross and the community will join together to lead Taize songs along with corporate prayer and meditation. This service takes its name from the monastic community founded in 1940 by the Swiss-born Brother Roger in the small village of Taize (teh-zay) in the Burgundy region of France. An island of peace with the horrors and suffering of WWII all around, Brother Roger hid refugees, particularly Jews, who fled the occupied zone of France, across the demarcation line, just a short distance from his home. His calling was to start a community of reconciliation between divided Christians and divided nations, where kindness and love would be at the heart of all things. Today, Taize has become a place of pilgrimate and peace for people around the world.
