Oconee Youth Playhouse presents The Little Mermaid Jr.

Oconee Youth
Playhouse will present Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. over two

weekends in August at the Oconee County Civic Center.

“We are so excited to be bringing this show to local audiences,” says Terra Hannon, who is co-directing the production with Kelly Ozust and her husband, Shane Hannon.
“This show has a story and music that everyone knows, but seeing it live is
really special. It has been so much fun working on the sets and costumes to
recreate a world under the sea.”

Jordan Richey,
a rising junior at North
Oconee High
School, plays the role of Ariel. She has appeared in many OYP productions and also was seen recently as Fantine in the NOHS-OCHS production of Les Miserables. Several other leads from that show are in Little
Mermaid Jr.
, including Michael Ball (Triton) and Thomas Peck (Prince Eric).

Megan Hodgson, a rising sophomore at OCHS, plays the evil Sea Witch Ursula, while Simon
Beckham, a rising junior at NOHS, plays Sebastian the crab, a role originated
on Broadway by Athens native and University of Georgia graduate Tituss Burgess. Beckham
will head up one of the grandest numbers in the show, “Under the Sea.”

“I think we have maybe 10 different groups of ‘ocean life’ in that one number – from sting rays to jellyfish to rainbow fish. It's going to be one of the biggest and most
challenging numbers we've every done in our 16 years of directing OYP
shows," says Shane. "But it's going to be a show-stopper."
