Commemorating 9/11: Community Sing of Gabriel Faure’s "Requiem"

To commemorate the tenth anniversary of the tragedy of September 11 and to remember those who perished, the Athens Choral Society and the Music Ministry of Athens First United Methodist Church invite you to participate in a community sing of Gabriel Faure’s "Requiem."

The performance will take place in the sanctuary of Athens First United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. accompanied by orchestra and organ. Conducting the performance will be Dr. Mitos Andaya, Associate Director of Choral Studies at the University of Georgia’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music.

All singers are welcome to join in this special performance without rehearsal. Please show up at 5:30 p.m. The schedule is detailed below. A clearly marked score will be emailed to you soon to distribute to those who are interested in singing. In addition, scores will be available at the door.
