Athens offers plenty of special options for Valentine's Day.

 

Looking for a place to take your sweetie on Valentine's Day? That is, you're looking for an intimate dinner for two or a night on the town? There are plenty of options to make his or her heart go pitter pat. Now is the perfect time to make your reservations for your special night.

ACC Leisure Services-Valentine Heart to Heart Bingo at Rocksprings: You and your sweetheart can enjoy refreshments, Valentine prizes, and play Heart to Heart Bingo. The action happens on Monday, February 13 from 10:00 a.m. – noon. The cost is $4 per person and pre-registration is required by calling (706) 613-3603.

Casa Mia-Valentine Weekend Dinner for two: $50.00 will get you two salads, four tapas, dessert, and a bottle of house wine or champagne. The dinner is being offered from Febuary 10th until Valetine's Day, Monday the 14th.  Call and make a reservation soon, this sweet deal will attract all the lovers in town.

Farm 255-In honor of St. Valentine's Day, you can reserve an intimate table for two and dine on a prix fixe supper that includes 4 courses. The cost is $48.00 and for an additional charge, you can order wine pairings to compliment your meal. The courses may also be ordered a la carte. Call to make your reservation.

Melting Point-6th annual Valentine's dinner and evening with Francine Reed & Java Monkey. This evening promises romance with a “one night only” performance with jazz legend, Francine Reed. According to their website Ms. Reed is known for her powerful voice and commanding stage presence. Led by Executive Chef, Martin Smetana, thier award-winning culinary team will prepare a tantalizing, four-course meal. The price is $245.00 per couple.

University of Georgia Performing Arts CenterThe Emerson String Quartet will be gracing the UGA Performing Arts Center with a Valentine's Day performance. According to their press release, The Emerson String Quartet continues to perform with the same benchmark integrity, energy and commitment that it has demonstrated since it was formed in 1976. Sounds like a lovely way to spend the evening to me. The show starts at 8:00 pm.

The National-Chef Peter Dale will prepare a three-course prix-fixe meal for $50 per person. The menu will feature abaguette with olive oil and marinated olives to start and the first course will offer a choice of three tapas per couple. The second course gives the choice of one entree per guest and the meal will be finished off with an oversized dessert for a couple to share. Sounds pretty romantic to me. The State Botanical Garden of Georgia-For $70 per couple or $40 per person (add $10 per person if reservations are made after February 10th) guests can enjoy a buffet menu that includes appetizers and a salad, plus sautéed shrimp, pork tenderloin medallions, stuffed chicken breast, side dishes and an assortment of rich desserts.  Guests are invited to bring their own wine to enjoy with dinner. Trappeze Pub-Feast on a Valentine’s Day meal prepared by Chef Eddie. The menu includes Arancini Pasta with braised fennel, grana padano cheese, pickled beet creme fraiche or Mussels with chickpeas, sweet potato, chard, ciabatta, and tomato aioli. The cost will be around $40 per person for three courses or around $20-$25 for just a main dish. Be sure to contact them on-line to make your reservations.

Most of your favorite local restaurants will be open for Valentine's dinner and may throw together a special last minute menu item to celebrate the romantic evening. Be sure to call and make your reservations now, a table for two will be harder to come by as the special night draws closer. Afterall, your sweetie deserves the very best.
