July the Fourth at Bishop Park: Press Ahead or Postpone?

People have cancelled outdoor parties. They've nixed picnics. And put the kibash on barbecues. Because this Fourth of July is expected to be the wettest, stormiest holiday we've seen in a long time.

So will there be a Star Spangled Classic at Bishop Park? Will the inflatables inflate, the band get tuned up, the children line up and show off their bikes and trikes? Will the fireworks light up the sky for miles around?

Tomorrow morning, we'll find out. By then, the hard-working officials with the Athens Clarke County Leisure Services Department will have made a decision about whether to plow on ahead, fingers crossed, or to postpone the festivities.

So check with Athens Patch and we'll let you know what's going on. Why can't the rain hold off just one day?
