CARTER KESSLER, A BUSINESSMAN AND PROUD REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 118. THE CHOICE COULD NOT BE CLEARER.

Carter Kessler is a businessman who knows how to create jobs and understands the critical role that public education plays in job creation.

(Athens, GA) – Republican Candidate for State House, Carter Kessler issued the following statements about recent comments attributed to himself and his opponent following this week’s debate.

“It is true that I am not a politician. I am a businessman man with a sincere desire to effectively represent Athens in the State House.

“Athenians are suffering from a lack of jobs and the lowest levels of public school funding in a decade. If elected, I will provide strong leadership working with both Republicans and Democrats to reverse that job-killing trend.

“I am a post-partisan Republican with strong beliefs on effective governing and who understands the best legislation is often non-partisan. However, I believe that government at any level that attempts to do everything will succeed at nothing, so we have to make clear choices on where to most effectively use limited resources.

“I will work tirelessly to refocus our state government on the most critical core services that have a direct impact on jobs and the economy. I believe these to be fully funding public education and infrastructure repair and improvement. An educated workforce combined with excellent infrastructure will provide businesses with strong incentives to relocate in Athens-Clarke bringing with them jobs to a well-educated and deserving people.

“This is what I call organic economic development. It requires no backroom deal, no corporate welfare and no unfair special tax incentives. I will lead the fight to reduce job-killing regulations and taxes on our small businesses, and I will always put the good people of Athens before politics.

“My opponent supports raising taxes on everything and everyone to pay for unnecessary giveaways in the name of economic development. We do not have to buy jobs. We have to provide strong reasons for businesses to choose Athens-Clarke.

“My opponent Spencer Frye offers nothing but more of the same failed approach to government that we have now; hyper-partisan politics that produces zero results for the people. His solution to everything is to raise taxes and grow government. And he does not discriminate. He supports raising taxes on the poor, the middle class, retired seniors and small businesses all in the name of government.”
