Fight Global Warming With Your Fork!

By Rhiannon Eades

Climate change may be a global issue, but there are simple steps you can take to make a difference at a local level.

As part of its Adult Summer Reading Program, “Groundbreaking Reads,” the Athens-Clarke County Library will host “Fight Climate Change With Your Fork,” a presentation by Jan Kozak of the Athens Farmer’s Market. Come to the Library at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, to hear Kozak talk about local sustainability initiatives and learn how our community can work together for a successful outcome.

Eating locally grown, organic food not only supports the local economy, but it also reduces the amount of fossil fuel burned to transport food to your plate, which in turn reduces greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere.

This event is free and open to the public and will take place in the Athens-Clarke County Library’s Multipurpose Room C on the first floor. For information, call (706) 613-3650 or log onto www.athenslibrary.org. The Athens-Clarke County Library is located at 2025 Baxter Street, Athens.
