11-Year-Old Girl Said to Have Broken into Same House Twice

Police suspected a child had stolen the items because the loot was smaller items a child could carry.

The victim of a robbery on Peeks Point spotted a pair of socks on an 11-year-old girl from the neighborhood--socks which belong to his roommate. Further investigation by Athens Clarke County Police led to storage bins containing items the girl had allegedly stolen from the man's home, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald.

The house on Peeks Point was first broken into on Wednesday, when the resident was away, moving to Gwinnett County, and his roommates weren't home, the story says. There wasn't any indication someone broke into the house but a back window was open.

The story says police believe the young girl took a set of keys the victim left on a kitchen counter and that she went into the house a second time on Thursday while the victim was away, moving. When police went to the girl's house on Mandy Drive, they found the stolen items-- coffee and espresso machines, a toiletry bag, bottles of cologne, a watch and some food, police said--and returned them to their owners.
