ACC Police Offer Reward for BB Shooter

He’s a young white man, 17 to 25 years old, with shaggy brown hair. And he's driving what may be a black Volkswagen Jetta.

That’s the way people described an assailant who has been shooting people on the Eastside of Athens with BB.’s from a rifle-looking type gun, according to Captain Clarence Holeman.

The police are now offering a $1,000 Crimestoppers reward for information leading to the shooter’s arrest. Anyone with information should call Detective Chuck Ivy at 706-613-3337.

The incidents in which he has been involved include:

• A young girl was walking with her grandmother on the Eastside around 4pm on Sunday. She was shot in the upper back.
• A man turned his pickup from Beaver Dam Road onto Robert Hardeman Road, heading to Winterville. When an oncoming car, identified as a brown Honda, passed, the driver fired at the driver's side window, shattering it. The driver wasn’t injured.
• On Sunday afternoon, police said, a jogger found a BB embedded in his thigh. He had been jogging on Whit Davis Road near Shadow Moss Road around 4:30pm.
• A woman was driving an SUV near Lexington Road around 5:30 on Sunday afternoon, when a white man stood up in a sunroof and fired at her car, shattering a window, police said.
