Accused Murderer Jamie Hood Says He's No Cop Killer

Hood says the Barrow County Detention Center is too cold.

Convicted felon , accused of killing an Athens police officer and wounding another, told Clarke County Superior Court Judge Lawton Stephens that is not a cop killer. And that a policeman provoked him into shooting.

Hood appeared in a pre-trial hearing in court on Wednesday, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, so that his attorneys could make various requests to the judge. Because , Judge Stephens periodically has to ask him if he is satisfied with his legal representation.

Hood has been imprisoned in the Barrow County Detention Center and charged with killing Athens Clarke County Police Officer Buddy Christian and shooting Police Officer Tony Howard. Howard has since recovered and has gone back to work.

Hood's attorneys, who are based in Atlanta, asked Judge Stephens to let Hood be moved closer to Atlanta. Judge Stephens didn't rule on their request, the story said.
