Alleged Stalker Wanted in Oconee on Numerous Charges Has Surrendered

20-year-old Brett Almand Benson turned himself in at the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.

 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday notified the public that Brett Almand Benson, 20, wanted for charges of battery, aggravated stalking and cruelty to children in the third degree, turned himself into the sheriff's office on Tuesday.

The following information appeared on the Sheriff's Office Facebook Page:

Benson is out on bond from a previous offense of a similar nature with the same victim. Oconee County Deputies received information that Benson was on campus at Athens Tech. The deputies went to Athens Tech, but officials there were not cooperative and would not assist in locating him on campus.

Chief Deputy Lee Weems said deputies obtained warrants as soon as the alleged incident was reported Monday afternoon, but details weren't immediately available.

A Bishop address appeared on Benson's previous booking information, but Weems said he wasn't certain if Benson still lives there.

Watkinsville Police last October charged Benson with simple assault related to a reported domestic fight in the parking lot of Town Center.
