Athens-Clarke Police Have Stabbing Suspect in Custody

A perimeter has been set up on the county line near the Stonehenge subdivision.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has apprehended a stabbing suspect. They were assisted by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office in the hunt for an aggravated assault suspect that began in the area of Stonehenge subdivision around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Both agencies sent out alerts via Nixle messaging.

The Athens-Banner Herald reported police said a man was being treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital after having been stabbed three times in the woods. According to the ACCPD, the incident took place near Altar Stone Drive and Sarsen Circle just before 10am.

The suspect is described by police as a six foot black male wearing a camouflage jacket and a ball cap. He is now in police custody.
