Athens Crime Blotter: Drug Busts and Thefts

As a follow-up to drug investigations in the downtown area, members of the Drug Task Force made the following arrests on July 5:
- Antonio Hernandez Aponte, 25, charged with two counts sale of a schedule IV drug, one count sale of a schedule II drug, and one count sale of marijuana.
- Brandon Lindo, 21, charged with sale of a schedule III drug.
Officers responded to a theft in progress call at a residence on W. Hancock Avenue July 5 when a witness reported a man attempting to steal a window air conditioning unit from a vacant residence. When officers arrived, they heard the offender inside and he was arrested without incident. Malcolm Johnson, 44, was charged with burglary.
A Grove Street residence was burglarized July 5 and an ATV and DVD player, valued at $360, were stolen.

A laptop valued at $1,000 was stolen from a N. Chase Street residence July 5. A neighbor saw a man carrying a backpack in the back yard.
An E. Broad Street residence was burglarized between July 1 and July 5. An Xbox, router, TV, and video games were stolen. The total value was $1,200.

On July 5, spools of copper wire valued at $1,400 were stolen from a lot at Georgia Power, 205 Dairy Pak Road. The suspect’s vehicle was a red or maroon four-door sedan.
