Athens Girl, 11, Threatens to Harm Herself and Parents Over Facebook Access

Parents wrestled the knives from their daughter and called 911.

An 11-year-old girl had posted provocative photos of herself on Facebook, threatened to stab herself with a knife and then threatened her parents when they refused to let her use a cell phone.

According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, Athens Clarke County Police arrested the child on Monday before dawn after her parents told them about the threats, which came during a heated argument over accessing Facebook with a cell phone.

The story says the girl told police she sleeps on the floor because a black ghost with red horns sleeps in her bed. She says she hears ghosts routinely.

The police officers drove the girl to St. Mary's and left her in the care of medical professionals and her parents.
