Athens Man Charged with Stabbing Party Security Guard in Leg

The stabbing reportedly happened when the guard tried to break up a fight inside Athens Arena early Sunday morning. An arrest isn't a conviction.

Athens-Clarke County police officers working at the Athens Arena, 280 Commerce Boulevard, were approached by a security guard just before 12:30 a.m.  Sunday, May 26, who claimed he had been stabbed in the leg while breaking up a fight inside.

Police say the man had a wound to his thigh from a knife or other sharp object.

The man was able to give a description of his assailant and the suspect was located in a nearby parking lot, according to a news release.  The suspect was positively identified by the victim and other witnesses, police said.
