Athens Police Reports: Robbery, Burglary and Fleeing Officers

Robbery

Athens Clarke County Police arrested Jose Santos Sotelo on Robbery Charges on 3/8/14, charges stem from an incident involving a Colbert, Ga., woman.

The woman told officers that while she was shopping at the Georgia Square Mall she saw Sotelo. She said that she previously was in a relationship with Sotelo and was trying to avoid him.

She said Sotelo followed her as she left the mall and then snatched her cell phone and tried to flee. She detained Sotelo while calling out for help, a concerned citizen phoned 911. An off-duty ACCPD officer working security at the mall arrested Sotelo.

Burglary

A Rolling Ridge Apartment was burglarized between 1830 and 1950 on 3/7/14. The resident said the suspects stole a video game system valued at $110. The resident said when she returned home she saw two males standing in front of her apartment and that both males ran away when they saw her. Suspects are listed in the report.

Arrests

On 3/7/14 at around 2000 officers observed Rickshun Dwayne Willingham of Bristlecone Ct driving near Lexington Rd. Officers knew that Willingham had several outstanding warrants including a Federal Parole Warrant.

Officers attempted a traffic stop and Willingham refused to stop, Willingham eventually stopped his car and fled on foot. Willingham ran on foot into a residence on Fawn Dr where he was apprehended without further incident.

Willingham was arrested and charged with Obstruction, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Reckless Driving, Criminal Trespass (intrusion) Driving on a Suspended License. The outstanding warrants were served on Willingham at the Clarke County Jail.
