Athens-Clarke PD: Early Morning Fight Over Food Sends Man to the Hospital

Also reported: Collector coins and Chevy truck were stolen.

  • Around 3:35 a.m. on April 24 officers responded to the 800 block of East Broad Street to a male who had been beaten. He said he met three males downtown and they invited him back to their residence at that location. After they arrived, they got into a fight over food. The victim said he was punched and kicked. He sustained a gash near his ear. EMS responded and transported him to an unnamed hospital for treatment. Names of suspects were determined but contact was not made with them.

BURGLARY

  • A Loys Farm Road residence was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on April 23. Collector coin sets valued at $225 were stolen. Possible suspects were named.
  • A Lavender Road residence said that around 12 p.m. on April 23 she heard a vehicle pull in her driveway. Someone knocked on her door but she ignored it. Someone then opened the door with a key, entered and began going through cabinets and drawers. A male known to her came into the room where she was hiding. When he saw her, he ran from the residence and left in the vehicle. Nothing was stolen.

THEFT BY TAKING

  • A 1986 Chevrolet C10 was stolen from a Cabin Creek Road residence between 11 p.m. April 23 and 6 a.m. April 24. The truck is black, with Georgia tag 9895ALC, and is valued at $8,500.
