UPDATE: Robot Used to Remove Bottle from Social Security Office on Prince Avenue

As of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the scene was all clear.

Athens-Clarke County Police and the Clarke County Fire Department responded toΒ  the 1600 block of Prince Avenue on Wednesday to investigate a report of a suspicious package, according to a Nixle alert sent just before noon. The UGA Bomb Unit was also called.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports it happened at the Social Security Office and a robot was used to remove a small, unattended bottle of unidentified liquid that an employee found. The liquid will be analyzed, the article says.

Another message sent by police at 2 p.m. stated that the scene was all clear.
