BB Gun Found at Middle School, Stolen Jewelry, Big-Ticket Appliances Taken

A man reported that someone forcibly entered his mother’s Deer Creek Drive residence through the back door between 8am on March 1st and 10am on March 23rd. Taken were a washer/dryer unit, deep freezer, microwave, and a dresser, together valued at $3,475.

A neighbor on Lonestar Road reported that she saw a man enter an unlocked vehicle belonging to someone she knew between 9:21pm and 9:37pm on March 23rd. The vehicle was not damaged and there were no items missing at the time of the report.

A woman reported that someone took her ring, valued at $2,000, from her room at Inn-Town Suites between 5:30pm on March 20th and 3pm on March 23rd. There is a suspect named in the theft case.

A man reported that items stored at Covenant Carpenters, 1743 Lexington Road, were taken between 6am and 6:30pm on March 18th. There is a suspect named in the theft of a $12,000 Tru-Commercial Grade Refrigerator and a $200 stove.

Athens Clarke Police were notified by officials at Coile Middle School that a student brought a firearm to school. Officials at Coile handed the gun over to police. The gun was identified in the report as a BB/air soft type weapon. The Department of Juvenile Justice ordered the child released to his parents. This incident is still under investigation.

A man said his Winterville Road home was burglarized between October 20, 2012, and March 22, 2013. Items taken include a freezer, washer, dryer, TV and numerous other household items. The total value of the property stolen is $1,095.

On March 22nd, officers arrested Robert Aumund Tate for Entering Auto, Loitering and False Information. A witness observed Tate as he attempted to enter two vehicles; the witness called 911 and followed the suspect. Officers located the suspect near the Kappa Delta Sorority House. The witness was able to positively identify Tate as the offender.

A resident of Fernbanks Court said someone entered his 2001 Ford Explorer between 8pm on March 21st and 12 noon on March 22nd. The resident said a saxophone was taken from his car.

A woman said someone entered her 2007 Kia while it was parked on Riverbend Parkway between 9:10pm on March 21st and 7:40pm on March 22nd.Β  A GPS was taken.
