Accused Burglar Sent Sexual Photo To Child Before Attempting To Molest Another, Cops Say

Details of the suspect's behavior were revealed in an indictment released this week.

Two days before Rashard Timothy Blackshear allegedly committed a burglary and attempted to molest a child, Athens Clarke County Police believe he sent lewd photos to a 12-year-old girl, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald.

An indictment filed in Clarke County Superior Court on Tuesday contains various sordid details about Blackshear's behavior, the story says.

Blackshear was arrested on April 19 for allegedly breaking into a home off Lexington Road the day before. After he had gathered up electronic items and cash, he stopped by a bedroom where an 11-year-old was asleep with her younger sister, the story says.

Blackshear, the indictment says, then tried to pull off the children's bedcovers. The startled girl ran to her parents' bedroom and told them what happened, the story says, and Blackshear left. With the help of a neighbor, police identified and then arrested Blackshear.

A few days before the alleged burglary, authorities say he twice sent photos of a penis to a female, whose age wasn't known, the story says. On April 17, Blackshear is said to have sent photos of a penis to a 12-year-old girl, asking her to come to his house, according to the indictment quoted in the story.
