Burglaries and Thefts Rampant During Christmas Holidays

A Little Street residence was burglarized between midnight on December 19 and 2pm on January 2. TVs and a DVD were stolen. The total value was $545.

Between 2pm and 4pm on January 2, a Cavalier Road residence was burglarized. A laptop valued at $600 was stolen.

A woman reported that her Frederick Drive residence was burglarized between 8:15am and 5:55pm on January 2. TVs and cash valued at $790 were stolen.

A 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was stolen from the owner’s College Avenue residence between 2pm and 4:20pm on January 2. The vehicle is tan, with Georgia tag BQH4471, and is valued at $7,000. A suspect was named.

 A woman reported that sometime between 11am and 10:45pm on January 1, her Acadia Drive residence was entered through a window. Someone removed a laptop computer. After an investigation, officers arrested Curry Cole Callaway, 18, Acadia Drive, and charged him with burglary.

While an officer was conducting a house check on Julious Drive, on January 2 at 6:48am, an individual was observed sleeping on the floor of the residence. After determining that Billy Ray Parks, 51, Candler Court, Athens, did not have permission to be there, he was placed under arrest and charged with Loitering or Prowling.

A woman reported that her apartment on Riverbend Parkway was entered by unknown method between 12:00 PM on December 18th and on 2:00 PM on December 29th. Taken was a television valued at $300.  

A woman reported that someone entered her Glenhaven Avenue residence through a window between 6:00 PM on 21 December and 11:00 AM on 28 December. The owner was contacted by a patrol officer who found an open window at her residence. The woman returned to her residence to discover that her Nintendo Wii, a Motorola Razor cell phone and a Dell Laptop computer valued at $1,590 had been taken.

A man reported that someone kicked in the front door of his West Broad Street apartment between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM on 29 December. Taken from the residence were a Fluke 902 clamp-on amp meter and a Samsung Galaxy Admire cell phone valued at $543. 

A woman reported that someone entered her Frederick Drive residence by forcibly prying open the rear door between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM on 29 December. Taken from the residence were a Nintendo Wii, Netbook Computer, and 2 flat screen TVs valued at $895. 

A man reported that someone entered his Riverbend Parkway apartment by prying open a window between 08:00 AM on 20 December 20th and 11:00 PM on 27 December 27th. Taken from the residence were a 27” iMac computer and video games valued at $3,600.

Officers responded to an entering auto in progress on Appleby Drive at approximately 1:18 PM on December 29th. A witness told Central Communications that three females had entered a 1995 Honda Accord belonging to a man. When the females saw the witness, they fled into the woods behind the complex. Officers made contact with the three females, all of whom were juveniles, and recovered several items that were taken from the vehicle. The three juveniles were each charged with one count of Entering Auto and were transported to the Police Department. The arresting officer notified the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) of the detention and the DJJ had the juveniles released back to their guardians until their court appearance.
