Cassandra Norwood, Accused of Killing Her Own Infant, is Denied Bond in Athens, Ga.

Young woman hid her pregnancy from her family, authorities say.

In early November, Cassandra Norwood was arrested and charged with murder after delivering her own baby and then allegedly stabbing the child to death.

The 21-year-old Cedar Shoals High School graduate--now a student at Athens Technical College-- has been jailed since a family member discovered the infant's body in a trash can at the family's eastside home.

Norwood will continue to remain in the Clarke County Jail, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald.

District Attorney Ken Mauldin said Norwood was likely to leave the state, according to the story. The public defender representing Norwood argued that she should be allowed to stay with a family friend in Watkinsvile and wear an ankle bracelet, but that argument didn't convince Judge Patrick Haggard.

He denied bond.

The Judge was right to deny bond. The woman has no heart! Why didn't she take the child to an ER or firestation and leave it there! They would not have asked any questions, the baby would be safe, and the "mom" not in one bit of trouble! Now her family knows about the pregnancy and she may have to face a life in prison! Women/girls shoud take note: If you don't want your child, there is adoption and if you don't want your pregnancy known there is the hospital or fire station you can take the baby to and no one is allowed to ask you any quetions if I understand the law correctly. Just wrap the baby warmly, hand it over to the ER attendent or a fireman and explain you can't raise it or don't want to raise it whatever your case may be. Look it up if you have questions. Do the right thing; spare your baby's life and YOURS by doing so!!!
