Murdered assistant bank manager Charles Parker was said to be working on a poultry farm business deal with Victor Blockum at the time of his death.

An article today in the Athens Banner Herald says Blockum had had various problems with law enforcement over the years. These problems include receiving 16 years of probation from a Madison County judge after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

He had earlier been arrested in Oglethorpe County, where he was living, on an assault charge during a domestic violence incident, the article says. That charge was dropped because the survivor recanted her story. Blockum got 12 months probation for obstruction during that incident.
