Citizens Police Academy to Start in February in Athens, Ga.

Deadline for registration is Friday, January 18th.


For the 29th time, residents of or workers in Athens Clarke County will attend the Citizens Police Academy beginning Thursday, February 7, at 6:15 p.m. The session will continue through Thursday, April 25, 2013. All classes will be held at police headquarters on Lexington Road.

This courses lasts 12 weeks. Three-hour classes meet one night a week. Instruction covers topics such as patrol functions, criminal investigation, communications and 911, crime prevention, SRT, and many other functions of the police department.

Applicants must live or work in Athens-Clarke County. They must be at least 18 years old, and must pass a criminal background check. The deadline for registration is Friday, January 18.
