The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

ACCPD is investigating an Armed Robbery that occurred at the Family Dollar Store located at 415 Hawthorne Avenue. Around 8:50 p.m., January 7, a black male entered the store and requested change from a cashier. When told he had to purchase an item in order to get change, he attempted to purchase some candy. When the register opened, he reached over the counter and began to remove money from the register. The cashier attempted to stop him, at which point he brandished a knife and threatened the cashier. He is described as approximately 6’ 02”, 240-250 pounds and was wearing a white hooded jacket, with a gray liner, black shirt, gray sweatpants, black shoes and a black stocking cap. He was last seen running southbound on Hawthorne Avenue towards Broad Street. The cashier was not injured during the robbery.

ACCPD responded to the Healthy Gourmet, 1087 Baxter Street, to investigate reports of a broken front door. It was discovered the door had been broken with a concrete brick and the cash drawer had been taken. The cash drawer and some of its contents were recovered down an embankment at the rear of the business.
