Members of the Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 1005 Baxter St on July 26 and seized a quantity of Darvocet, marijuana, cocaine, and cash. They arrested Christopher Lane, 26, of Townview Place.  After Lane was arrested, a 4th Amendment Waiver search was conducted of his residence, where additional evidence of distribution was located. Lane was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Possession of a Schedule IV Drug with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Cocaine.  State Probation Officers assisted with this operation.

Around 4:45 p.m. on July 26, officers responded to a burglary in progress at a Sycamore Drive location. The suspects were three young men, 16 to 17 years old. Their descriptions were given to responding officers.  As one officer arrived, he saw the young men walking along the Atlanta Hwy. They appeared to be very nervous.  The officer stopped and called for them to come to him.  As they approached, he told the one closest to him to put his hands behind his back. When he reached for his arm, the young man fled. The officer pursued and was able to apprehend this subject. The other two fled into a wooded area. A perimeter was set up and a K9 unit responded. A short time after the dog began tracking, the other suspects surrendered without incident. During the search for the suspects, a bag containing suspected marijuana, a digital scale, and cell phone was found on the ground. A field test of the substance was positive for marijuana. Investigation revealed the three entered a vacant apartment to “hang out” with no intent to commit a crime. Justin Tremell Scott, 18, Mario Circle, was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Criminal Trespass, and Obstruction. The other two young men are 16 years old.  One had a pick-up order for another incident and was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for transport to YDC. The other was released to his mother. They were charged with the same offenses

Officers responded to an alarm at Senor Sol on Tallassee Road around 1:40 a.m. on July 27. They found a shattered front door. Some items had been moved around. The owner arrived and said that a gift card and cash had been stolen. Investigation also revealed that the nearby Shell Food Mart had also been burglarized and the front door shattered. As the first officers arrived, they saw a male walking on Tallassee Road. Other officers searched for and found him crouching in the brush off Forest Heights Drive. He was taken into custody without incident. A search of his person revealed a number of credit cards that were determined to have been removed from Senior Sol. He also had glass fragments in his hair and on his clothing. Walter James Campbell, 33, Westchester Drive, was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary.
