Crime Blotter -- Domestic Incidents and Traffic Accidents

responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on Cook Drive. A man stated he had been at the residence, his mother’s, when he got into a verbal argument with his brother, James Edward Moody, 49. The went outside to get away from his brother, and Moody followed him outside with a knife. Moody is accused of threatening his brother with the knife and acting as if he was going to stab him. Moody was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Cruelty to Children because the incident occurred in the presence of an eleven-year old child. The brother was not injured.

A woman returned to her Sayemore Dr. residence and found that it had been entered through a broken rear window. A Play Station II, cell phone and $200 worth of groceries were stolen from inside the residence.

A man left his vehicle parked at Dogwood Apartments, 198 Old Hull Rd., with the keys hidden inside the vehicle so that a relative could pick up the vehicle. When the relative arrived to get the car, it was gone. The vehicle is a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, silver, with tinted windows and after-market rims and exhaust. The license plate on the vehicle should be CAE-0203.

ACCPD officers on foot in the Bethel Midtown Village complex made contact with a vehicle which was playing music extremely loud. After contacting the driver, Brandon Markquel Minus, 26, Star Dr, Athens, the officers smelled the odor of burnt marijuana. During the investigation, Minus was found to be in possession of cocaine and MDMA. He was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of MDMA, Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers and Noise Ordinance Violation.

ACCPD officers witnessed a female pacing back and forth near the intersection of College Ave and Strong Street and yelling at cars that passed by. During the investigation, the female admitted that she had been to Bethel Midtown Village to purchase marijuana, and was waiting on her ride. Officers recovered a quantity of marijuana in her possession, and Shantese Morris, 19, Sartain Dr., Athens, was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Dayna Christine Cernickey, Oxford Lane, Fayetteville, GA, was operating a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant northbound on Lumpkin St. and crossing S. Milledge Ave. Lejammie Travon Edwards, 18, Rocksprings St., Athens, was southbound on Lumpkin St. attempting to turn left (south) onto S. Milledge Avenue. As Edwards made his left turn, he entered the path of the Cernickey vehicle and the two collided in the intersection. A 22-year old passenger in the Mitsubishi, Amy Kruger, Gaines School Road, Athens, was transported by ambulance for treatment of injuries sustained. Edwards was cited for Failure To Yield-Turning Left.

Jamie Marker, 28, Fernwood Dr., Hull, GA, was operating a 2002 Ford Explorer, northbound on Milledge Ave. near Hill St., when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Marker was transported by ambulance for treatment. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

 Faye Conner, J.S. Williamson Ct., Nicholson, GA, was operating a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser westbound on Prince Ave., and had moved into the center turn lane to turn left (south) onto Milledge Ave. Jeannie Elizabeth Fields, 58, Frank Matthews Rd., Lexington, GA, was operating a 1999 Plymouth Voyager van, and was attempting to exit a private driveway to go eastbound on Prince Avenue. The Fields vehicle crossed two lanes of stopped traffic and turned into the path of Conner. Both drivers, as well as a passenger in the Fields vehicle, Audrey Leann Page, 22, were transported by ambulance for treatment. Fields was cited for Failure To Yield When Entering Roadway.
