Crime Blotter--Assault and Mucho Stealing

ACCPD responded to a residence on Heelstone Drive after hearing several gunshots. Upon arrival, they made contact with a 25-year-old victim who had a stab wound in his lower back. Witnesses provided the name of the suspect and a description of the car they had left the scene in. A short time later, the vehicle was located on the Atlanta Highway, the suspect apprehended, and the knife used in the assault was recovered. Shenike Charmaine Harris, 31, Hickman Drive, Athens, was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault. The victim was transported by EMS for treatment.

ACCPD was investigating a disturbance at 524 Vine Street when they were approached by a man who stated he had been robbed the previous day. The 20-year-old man said he had been inside his residence when two people known to him entered and held a gun to his head, robbing him of cash and other property. The man was not injured during the robbery. The incident is under further investigation.

A 27-year-old man reported that his Harris Street residence was entered through a rear bathroom window that had been pried open. An X-Box 360 Game System, numerous video games and blue-ray movies were stolen. 

A 22=year-old woman reported tht her Ruth Street residence was entered through a pried-open side window. A gold ring, 24-pack of beer and a bottle of vodka were stolen.

A 23-year-old woman reported that her Nicole Circle residence was entered through a pried-open rear door and a flat-screen TV, Acer laptop computer, a pearl necklace and earrings, and a bracelet were stolen. 

A 31-year-old man from Windingbrook Trail, Winterville, reported that his red 2000 Nissan Frontier pickup truck was stolen while it was  parked in a parking lot at 124 East Hancock Street. The truck also had a Rigid pressure washer in the bed of the truck. The tag on the truck is BFM7581.

An employee of Legacy Realty reported that two air conditioning units were stolen from behind a rental unit located on Citation Court. The units were valued at $2,000 each.

A 30-year-old employee of Loco’s on Barnett Shoals Road stopped to get gas on his way to make the bank deposit. He left his car unsecured while he went into the Golden Pantry at 2290 Barnett Shoals Road, and when he returned to his vehicle, the bank deposit bag was gone. 

A 37-year-old woman from Charlotte, NC, reported that her vehicle was entered while it was parked in the deck at the Hilton Gardens Hotel at 390 E. Washington Street. The trunk of the vehicle was entered and two pieces of luggage and three laptop computers were taken. The luggage was recovered in a stairwell of the parking deck. Shortly afterwards, ACCPD made contact with Lindberg Lamar Burgess, 41, Homeless, who they knew had active arrest warrants outstanding. Following his arrest and search incidental to arrest, it was discovered that he was in possession of two of the laptops that had been taken from the vehicle. In addition to the warrant, BURGESS was also charged with two counts of Theft By Receiving Stolen Property.

At 1:09am, on April 28, ACCPD on patrol at Bethel Midtown Village had contact with a subject acting suspiciously. When they confronted him and asked if he had a weapon in his possession, he stated he had a razor in his pocket. In retrieving the razor, officers also discovered that he was in possession of a “crack pipe,” and he was arrested for Possession of Drug Related Item. He was also found to be in possession of crack cocaine. Mario Orlando Baker, 24, Ramble Hills Drive, Athens, was charged with Possession for Cocaine and Possession of Drug Related Items.
