Crime Blotter--assault and thefts

Officers responded to an Aggravated Assault at Broad Acres on June 16. Officers met with a woman who said she was trying to break up a fight between her boyfriend and another man when a woman hit her with a bottle. The hurt woman sustained a cut to the side of her head and was treated by EMS. Officers could not locate the alleged assailant. Officers did find one of the fighters, who said that he was fighting with the boyfriend for selling drugs near the assailant’s apartment.

A woman said that while she was staying in a room at 3980 Atlanta Highway, a suspect entered her room and took $800 and a camera. The woman said the theft occurred between 12 noon and 6pm on June 16. The woman told police that after the theft, a juvenile staying at the hotel told her the lock on her room door did not work. The reporting officer and the woman confirmed the door’s locking mechanism was not working. 

Police responded to a burglary in progress at a McDonald Way home on June 16 at 11pm. The woman  heard a loud crash on her deck and called police. Responding officers found that the suspect had broken a single pane of glass (double pane) on the back door. No one had come inside.

A woman reported that her West Broad Street apartment was burglarized between 11am on June 16 and 2:15am on June 17. She reported that her apartment had been ransacked. The following items were missing; TV, Xbox, shoes and ball caps. She valued the stolen items at $1,510. 

A man reported that a house on Kathwood Dr, owned by Bank of America had a compressor stolen. The unit was valued at $1,500. The compressor was stolen sometime between June 9 and June 11.

A man said his car was entered between 1:30am and 8:30am on June 16 whlle it was parked on Cleveland Road. He said the vehicle may have been unlocked. Someone took $110 in cash and $650 in electronics. The man also reported that a credit card was stolen and had been used several times.

A woman reported that her .38 revolver was stolen between November 1, 2011, and June 12, 2012. She said she kept the gun in the glove compartment of her boyfriend’s car. She said she sold the car and while removing her personal items from it, she noticed the gun was missing. She named a suspect but could not provide any more information.
