The resident's girlfirend noticed a black man in his twenties climbing out of the bedroom window when she arrived at about 8:30 p.m. The man had entered the home by removing an AC unit from the window. The girlfriend said the man seemed "very intoxicated" and began heading toward Freeman Drive, where he then entered a patch of woods.

Upon returning to his home, the resident of the Sayemore Drive house walked through the house with officers and at first could find nothing missing except a cellphone. After opening his refrigerator, however, he noticed that a dozen eggs were missing and that the man had eaten "nearly an entire chocolate cake" and had also "drank some whiskey in the kitchen." Officers later found a bag of chicken and half a bottle of Grey Goose vodka under the bedroom window where the suspect exited. No arrests were made.

Officers arrested a man driving a stolen golf cart from the Classic Center while drunk early Thursday morning on Ruth Drive, according to Athens-Clarke County Police reports.

Police noticed Soroush Samimi, 21, driving a golf cart without headlights on out of the UberPrints parking lot at about 4 a.m. After police watched Samimi drive the golf cart up Ruth Drive towards Ruth Street and making a U-turn back towards UberPrints, the officer stopped Samimi by waving his flashlight. The officer then noticed the Classic Center logo on the golf cart and suspected the vehicle had been stolen.

Samimi told the officer that he found the golf cart turned over in the UberPrints parking lot and flipped it back because "he did not want the gas in the tank to leak and the golf cart to explode." He also said that he drove the vehicle up Ruth Drive to check that it was still working and intended to leave it in the UberPrints parking lot. The officer reported he noticed a strong alcoholic smell coming from Samimi during the conversation. Classic Center officials, when contacted by police, said no person had been authorized to drive their golf cart. Samimi was arrested and charged with DUI, theft by conversion and driving without headlights.
