Crime Blotter for Athens, Ga.: Robbing and Stealing

A Spring Valley Road residence was burglarized between 3pm on March 29 and 2am on March 30. Jewelry valued at $3,000 was stolen. This was not reported until April 2.
Officers responded to a burglary in progress at a Marlin Street residence around 1:20pm on April 2. The resident said he found the back door open and heard someone running in the woods. Officers checked the area and located a witness who said he saw a high school age black male wearing a red shirt and black pants running through the yard toward Ruth Street. After checking the area, officers were unable to locate him. A desk top computer valued at $1,200 was stolen.

Around 3:30pm on April 2, a white male entered , 415 Prince Ave, and asked to cash a check. When asked for a picture ID, the man said he did not have one. The manager told him he could not give him the money. At that time, the suspect snatched $40 from the manager’s hand and fled on foot toward Barber St. A possible suspect has been identified. The investigation continues.
A man reported that his a laptop, valued at $1,200, was stolen from his East Clayton Street residence between 4:30pm on March 30 and 1pm on March 31. This was not reported until April 2.
