Crime Blotter--rape, assault and lots of stealing

A 41-year-old man from Red Street was standing outside of the Citgo Station located at 145 Gaines School Road. A silver Toyota Camry occupied by four males, two White and two Hispanic, pulled into the parking lot near him. One of the passengers exited the vehicle and fired a weapon, believed to be a pellet pistol, at the man, striking him in the right arm. The vehicle then left the area. The vehicle possibly has a “Handicapped” license plate, and the driver was described as white, wearing a white shirt and a gold chain. The 41-year-old was treated at the scene by EMS for his injury. 

ACCPD officers responded to a disturbance at a Fairview Street address. Investigation revealed that a verbal argument had escalated between a couple in their 60s, and that the husband, Charles Moses, Sr., had brandished a knife and had threatened his wife. This exchange was also witnessed by an 11-year old boy who was present in the residence. Charles Moses, Sr. was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault-Domestic Violence and Cruelty to Children-Third Degree. His wife was not injured.

Someone entered a Winterville Road residence through a broken window.  An entertainment center and TV were knocked over during entry, and a rear bedroom was ransacked, but nothing could be determined to be missing. 

Two apartments were entered in the Stonecrest Apartments complex at 145 North Avenue. Both apartments were entered through kicked-in rear doors. An HP laptop computer and a set of Bose headphones were taken from the apartment of two young men. Two laptop computers, a book bag, and miscellaneous items were taken from the apartment of three young women.

A young woman was away from her Old Hull Road residence when she was contacted by a neighbor who had seen a subject leaving the young woman’s apartment with her TV. Upon returning, the young woman discovered that her Dynex HD TV had been taken from her residence. A suspect was named by the neighbor/witness.

A 30-year-old man reported his vehicle was entered through a broken window while it was parked at Cambridge Apartments. Someone took a JVC CD Player, CD and cell phone charger were taken. 

A 72-year-old man reported that his truck battery was stolen from inside his vehicle while it was parked at his Star Drive residence.

A 26-year old female reported that early on the morning of August 17, a male that was known to her came to her eastside residence. He was allowed to enter, and shortly afterwards, the victim was taken to a bedroom and forced to have sex with the suspect. While in the room, the suspect turned up a stereo to a very high volume. When the suspect left, the victim noticed that an iPhone, LG HD TV, Acer Laptop Computer and a Sony Play Station and games were missing. It is suspected that a second individual had entered the residence after the suspect and had taken the items.  

A 27-year old woman reported that she had been at an Athens motel with two males. At some point, the female passed out. When she awoke, her clothing had been removed and she realized she had been raped. Two suspects are being sought in this incident. 

A 29-year-old woman from Nantahala Avenue and a 42-year-old man from Laurie Drive were walking on Boulevard towards a residence. When they stopped in the 300 block of Boulevard, they were approached by a black man. The suspect had an item in his hands, but they didn’t know if it were a knife or possibly a club, and he threatened the two victims, demanding their money. When the woman showed the contents of her purse to prove to the suspect that she had no money, the suspect took her LG cell phone. The suspect is described as approximately 30-years old, 5’ 10” tall, average build, short hair, wearing a black shirt and jeans. He was last seen walking on Boulevard towards Barber Street.

A Murrell Road residence was entered by someone pushing a window air conditioner out of a window. Once inside, the intruder tripped a motion alarm. Nothing could be determined to have been taken. 

A 22-year-old man reported that someone entered his Milledge Avenue residence through a broken window and an HP Pavilion laptop computer and two rings were stolen.

A 32-year-old woman from Hickman Drive reported that a subject known to her had taken her vehicle from a location Winterville Road without her permission and was refusing to return it. Later, ACCPD made contact with the vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Impala, and the suspect. Antonio Dewayne Johnson, 31, Eastwood Court, was arrested and charged with Theft by Taking-Motor Vehicle. The vehicle was returned to her with no reported damages.
